Saudi Arabian & Iranian win at largest religious competition

The competition which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, achieves 6 Guinness Certificates with a pool prize of US$3.3 million.

Today, in the final episode of the Otr Elkalam Show, the world’s largest religious competition, episodes of which were broadcast from the Saudi capital Riyadh, Saudi contestant Mohammed Al- Sharif took first place in the adhan (Islamic call to public prayer) competition with a prize of $533,000, while Iranian Younis Shahmradi won first place in the Quran recitation competition with a prize of $800,000. His Excellency Counselor Turki bin Abdel Mohsen Alalshikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, presented the awards to the winners.

The competition, which ended today, won 6 certificates from the Guinness Book of Records. It achieved two record numbers in terms of participating countries in both the Quran and Adhan stretches of the competition and a record number of participants in the Quran competition. Another record was set with the largest competition for attracting participants for the adhan competition and two other records were set with the largest prize money for a Qur’an recitation competition and the largest prize money for a call to prayer (adhan) competition. The prize money for both competitions was $3.3 million.

His Excellency Advisor Alalshikh honored the winners of the competition awards in the recitation and adhan tracks. Iranian contestant Younis Shahmradi won first place in the recitation category, while Saudi Arabian Abdulaziz Al-Faqih took second place and a prize of $533,000. Moroccan competitor Zakaria Al-Zirk won third place and a prize of $266,000, his compatriot Abdullah Al-Daghri fourth place and a prize of $187,000.

In the Adhan competition, Saudi competitor Mohammed Al-Sharif took first place, second place went to Indonesian Diaa Al-Din bin Nazar Al-Din with a prize of $266,000, and third place went to Raheef Al-Hajj with a prize of $133,000, and fourth place went to Briton Ibrahim Asad with $80,000 in prize money.

The Qur’an and Adhan Competition, held this year in strategic partnership with the Islamic World League, is one of the international initiatives of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority.
