Jamaica’s tourism expects 1.2 million visitors this summer

According to Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica is expected to earn $4.5 billion from tourism in 2023, a substantial increase from the $3.64 billion earned in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Bartlett expects the island to welcome over four million visitors this year.

In the first four months of 2023, Jamaica has already received nearly 1.5 million visitors and earned US$1.6 billion. This positive trend indicates that Jamaica is on track to surpass the achievements of 2019 and break new records.

Jamaica is projected to welcome a record-breaking 1.2 million visitors this summer, with an expected total of 4.2 million visitors for the year. This will generate a historical record of US$4.5 billion in tourism revenue.

In 2019, Jamaica received 4.3 million visitors and generated slightly higher tourism income than the previous year, with 2.9 million visitors. The 2018 income was US$3.58 billion.

Global travel restrictions negatively impacted Jamaica’s hotels due to COVID-19. However, they have resumed operations and welcome guests, just as before the pandemic.
