The Seychelles Tourism Department recently celebrated a significant milestone with the official signing of an important MOU.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Seychelles Tourism Academy and the Seychelles Maritime Academy (SMA). The momentous ceremony took place at the Seychelles Tourism Academy, where Mr. Terence Max, Director of Seychelles Tourism Academy, and Captain Prasanna Sedrick from SMA signed the MOU.
This MOU signifies the beginning of a promising partnership between the two academies, along with the inclusion of the Yacht Association. The primary objective of this collaboration is to promote academic exchange and cooperation in human resources development and capacity building. Together, they will focus on various areas, including establishing corporate partnerships, participating in joint events and presentations, and promoting careers in Maritime Tourism, Boat and Yacht charters, cruise ships, and related fields.
Moreover, this partnership entails mutual support and promotion of each other’s institutions, as well as monitoring and providing training for students from both Seychelles Tourism Academy and SMA. The academies will work closely together on events of shared interest.
The signing of this MOU marks a significant milestone towards enhancing educational opportunities and strengthening the bond between the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Seychelles Maritime Academy, and the Yacht Association.
They are dedicated to advancing the growth and development of the maritime and tourism sectors in Seychelles.
In their commitment to strengthening ties, both institutions aim to improve the standards of delivery in the Tourism and Maritime industry. The Seychelles Maritime Academy is determined to provide learners with adequate customer care and interpersonal skills, on-board catering, basic service skills, and basic housekeeping operations training.
Additionally, both academies have agreed to collaborate on training programs that will benefit students of both Seychelles Tourism Academy and SMA. The Seychelles Tourism Academy is determined to equip its learners with essential skills, primarily focusing on marine park species knowledge, coral reef fish, basic snorkeling techniques, artisanal, commercial, and traditional fishing, aquarium operations, and safety at sea.
Through this collaborative effort, the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Seychelles Maritime Academy, and the Yacht Association aim to foster excellence in the industry and ensure the continuous growth and development of the maritime and tourism sectors in Seychelles.
