SAUDIA Group Successfully Completes Arrival Phase of Hajj

SAUDIA Group has successfully wrapped up the arrival phase of Hajj season 2023 by safely bringing in the last group of domestic pilgrims.

Through the combined efforts of SAUDIA and flyadeal, more than 600,000 pilgrims were transported.

Mr. Amer Al Khushail, Chief Officer of Hajj and Umrah at SAUDIA Group, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s outstanding performance. He emphasized their meticulous planning, seamless execution, constant monitoring, and commitment to delivering excellent services, all of which enhanced the pilgrims’ travel experience.

The Next Phase

Now, SAUDIA group is preparing for the next phase—the departure of pilgrims after completing their rituals. This involves closely coordinating with airports that will facilitate pilgrim departures and maintaining strong collaboration with all involved parties to ensure smooth operations.

Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, which is located in Saudi Arabia and is the holiest city for Muslims. It is considered to be a mandatory religious duty for Muslims which at least once in a lifetime must be accomplished by adults so long as they are financially and physically able to do so. The definition of Hajj is “pilgrimage made to the Kaaba.” It is a long pious journey meant to cleanse the soul of all worldly sins through the inward act of good intentions and the final journey after death.

About SAUDIA

SAUDIA started out in 1945 with a single twin-engine DC-3 (Dakota) HZ-AAX given to King Abdul Aziz as a gift by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This was followed months later with the purchase of 2 more DC-3s, and these formed the nucleus of what a few years later was to become one of the world’s largest airlines. Today, SAUDIA has 142 aircraft, including the latest and most advanced wide-bodied jets presently available: B787-9, B777-268L, B777-300ER, Airbus A320-200, Airbus A321, and Airbus A330-300.
