Priyanka Chopra Jonas opens up about racist bullying in the US; says it affected her adversely : Bollywood News

Priyanka Chopra has achieved global recognition for her work in both Bollywood and Hollywood. While today she is settled in the US, her first experience in the country was anything but pleasant. The actress who attended high school in the US was at the receiving end of racist bullying.

In a recent interview with Marie-Claire, Priyanka spoke about being picked for her ethnicity when she went to school in Newton, Massachusetts. “In high school, I feel like the kids who were after me didn’t even understand why. I think it’s that they decided that they were more powerful than someone else—me—and when you pick on someone, it’s because you’re insecure,” she said.

“Bullying happens to kids and adults. It happens with positions of power, and we’ve all seen that abused in multiple ways,” she added.

“It affected me adversely. It affected my confidence; it affected who I wanted to be. I felt exposed, when your skin is raw,” she further said.

On the work front, Priyanka was last seen in the recently released film The White Tiger of which she was also one of the executive producers. Currently, she is promoting her upcoming memoir Unfinished which marks her debut as an author.
