Boston to host largest ever Satanic convention

The Satanic Temple group announced that this year’s Satanic Convention will take place in Boston, MA on April 28-30, 2023

After holding the first-ever Satanic Convention last year in Scottsdale, Arizona, The Satanic Temple group announced that this year’s event will take place in Boston, MA on April 28-30, 2023.

The Satanic Temple (TST), headquartered in Salem, MA, claims that it has more than 2,500 followers in the Boston area.

The Massachusetts colony, where both, Boston and Salem are located, was originally founded in 1620 by the Puritans, a fanatical Protestant sect that believed the Church of England was too corrupt and too akin to the Roman Catholic Church it had split from.

Advertised on social media as the ‘largest Satanic gathering in history,’ this year’s event, SatanCon 2023, will celebrate the TST’s 10th Anniversary closer to its international headquarters, located in Salem, MA, infamous for its “witch trials” in the late 1600s.

The Satanic Temple is notorious for filing lawsuits against local and state authorities, claiming infringement of religious freedoms when their demands to deliver satanic invocations or display satanic statues on public property are rejected.

In July 2021, TST petitioned Boston to fly a flag outside the city hall for “Satan Appreciation Week,” but was turned down. The city went on to change its flag policy in October that year.

The Satanic Temple had also declared abortion a fundamental religious right and argued that any state laws restricting the practice are unfairly discriminating against their members.

TST insists it doesn’t actually believe in the devil, and its official mission is to “to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits.”

After coming into the national spotlight in 2020, the actual Church of Satan denounced TST as “a political activist group who uses scandalous language to get press attention.”

According to the SatanCon 2023 website, members attending this year’s ‘Hexennacht in Boston’ will be required to wear “an N-95, KN-95, or disposable surgical mask.”

Convention organizers yet to provide any other SatanCon details, such as the exact venue in Boston’s “historic downtown,” the schedule of events, or names of the forum’s speakers.
