3 Themed Holidays To Organise To Focus Your Trip To Italy

Planning travel to Italy? Then try to make it to one of its cultural events! Click here to learn about those holidays that will add a special touch to your trip.

Many of us grew up thinking of Italy as an excellent tourist destination: from the famous Tower of Pisa to the gondolas in the beautiful city of Venice. Its reputation as a great vacation spot has grown over time, and as we learn more about the country’s culture, the reasons why we should go to Italy become clear.

However, while visiting Italy any day of the year is wonderful, it becomes an out-of-this-world experience during its festivals. Italian culture makes these events something that can never be repeated anywhere else in the world, making them something unprecedented.

So when you start your Italy vacation planning, we ask you to consider these special festivals that will surely give you a unique experience.

Carnevalle: The Thousand Masks Day

Although it began as a date to commemorate the beginning of Lent (a Christian period during which meat is not consumed), the celebration seems to have continued for hundreds of years, becoming more and more extravagant.

Hundreds of people take to the streets in parties and parades full of masks and 12th-century costumes. There are also masquerade balls, street performances and concerts throughout Italy.

It’s a time that brings out much of the Renaissance style that Italy carries within itself and is sure to give you an experience full of history and beauty.

Palio Di Siena: A Wonderful Competition On Horseback

In July/August, Siena hosts a unique festival that dates back to ancient times. It pits 17 champions from different districts of Italy against each other in a horse race to determine the fastest rider.

The event has a unique medieval style reminiscent of the 13th century and includes everything from beautiful costumes to blessing rituals for the horses and competitors. We can also have fun watching the processions leading up to the event and the exciting race between those chosen to defend their district.

Food, Renaissance events, horse racing and a place full of cultural tourism make this a perfect time to take a tour of this country.

The Battle Of Oranges: A Funny And Weird Celebration

If you are looking for a fun and funny time to witness one of the strangest celebrations in history, the Battle of the Oranges at the Festival of Ivrea will give you plenty to talk about.

Born from a revolution against the tyrant Ranieri di Bankrate, the event tries to emulate the citizens of that time by throwing weapons at the forces of the governor of the area. Today, several organized teams participate in the event by throwing oranges in what could be categorized as the largest food fight in the world.

The event has a lot of historical knowledge, beautiful costumes and, above all, the unique battle that will provide you with a fun spectacle.

Are There Other Events With Which I Can Organise My Trip?

Italy never runs out of themed events throughout the year, so you can always choose a place to experience the beautiful Italian culture in all its splendour. Among them are the Bridge of Pisa, the Infiorata Festival, the Easter Processions and many more.

The truth is that these times will give you something to talk about when you tell the story of your trip.
