Budapest Airport Awarded ‘Best Airport in Eastern Europe’

Budapest Airport has added to its ever-growing list of achievements and renewed its position as ‘Best Airport in Eastern Europe’, becoming the tenth consecutive year the airport has received this accolade from the SkyTrax World Airport Awards, which were announced last night. The Hungarian gateway was declared the winner of the esteemed industry award during the Passenger Terminal EXPO 2023 conference and exhibition in the heart of Amsterdam.

Since first winning this award and being ranked as the passenger favourite in the region, Budapest Airport has continued to invest significantly in the improvement of passenger services to ensure the airport consistently delivers a first-class passenger experience. Since 2019 Budapest has completed infrastructure and sustainability developments, digital improvements, and capacity expansion following a 100bn HUF (€250m) investment in the airport and its future. Further progression continues as the reopening of Terminal 1 is under permitting, alongside the planning phase of the construction of Terminal 3 with the first stage expected to be completed by 2030.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are a global benchmark of airport excellence. They are voted for by passengers in an annual global airport customer satisfaction survey, which is completed by more than 100 nationalities during a six-month period and assesses customer service and facilities across more than 550 airports.

Chris Dinsdale, CEO, Budapest Airport, says: “The survey reflects the honest opinions of millions of passengers, resulting in a true evaluation of the airport services and product. I would like to thank all those that work within the airport’s broader ecosystem, without their combined commitment and focus on quality, this award would not be possible. It is an award that they should all feel ownership and pride. Holding onto its winning status for a decade is clear evidence of Budapest Airport’s continued excellence.”
