Ocean Explorer Makes Maiden Voyage to Trinidad

Destination Trinidad continues to welcome cruise calls to Port of Spain for the 2022/2023 Cruise season.

The Ocean Explorer cruise ship made its inaugural visit to the port of Port of Spain with approximately 87 passengers on board earlier today (Wednesday 5th April, 2023).

Ms. Jasmine Pascal, Permanent Secretary (Ag) Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts officially welcomed passengers and crew members to the island during a Crest Exchange that was held on board the vessel. Permanent Secretary (Ag) Pascal exchanged plaques with Master of the Ocean Explorer, Captain Jorge Ferdinez – as is customary during a ship’s inaugural visit to a country. The exchange was followed by a guided tour of the vessel.

Also present on the tour were Ms. Carla Cupid, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Trinidad Limited; Ms Terris Taylor, Manager Cruise Shipping, Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago; and Ms. Lesa Sharma, Port Agent for Perez y Cia Trinidad Ltd.

The Ocean Explorer is among twenty-nine (29) scheduled cruise calls to Port of Spain this season, which will bring an estimated 62,000 visitors to the destination. This year’s Cruise season will yield some 72 cruise calls in Trinidad and Tobago inclusive of approximately four maiden voyages: 29 of these calls will dock in Port of Spain, and 43 will dock in Scarborough and Charlotteville in Tobago.
