InterContinental Lisbon Named one of Best Workplaces

Celebrations are underway at InterContinental Lisbon as the five-star hotel has been awarded the prestigious titles of “Best Workplaces” and “Culture for All” by Great Place to WorkÒ Portugal. After being recognised as a ‘Great Place to Work’ since 2022, these new industry-respected accolades further confirm its place as Lisbon’s leading contemporary five-star hotel.

InterContinental Lisbon is currently the only company in Portugal to receive the “Culture for All” Award which celebrates the incredible hotel team for their passion and care towards diversity and inclusion, two pillars of the hotel’s core philosophy. The “Best Workplaces” accolade is made by and for the people of InterContinental Lisbon, a property where members of the team are a source of inspiration to create and maintain work environments. Great Place to WorkÒ recognises and celebrates companies with an excellent culture and a friendly and supportive environment that allows team members to thrive and grow.

Using a world-renowned global methodology, Great Place to Work considers the perception of team members through their voluntary and anonymous responses to a questionnaire (Trust Index), as well as policies and practices regarding leadership, to highlight organizations that support their staff.

“I am constantly in awe of the commitment our team has to the hotel and our guests and truly believe that they are the reason for the consistent success the hotel has had the honour of celebrating. In the leadership team, our primary concern is that our staff feel safe, comfortable, and supported in the workplace and I am thrilled that this atmosphere has been effectively created,” enthused Maarten P. Drenth, Area General Manager at IHG in Portugal.

With exceptional views over the historic capital and the Tagus River, InterContinental Lisbon is located next to the peaceful Parque Eduardo VII and above the Avenida da Liberdade, the very heart of Lisbon’s stylish society. Each of the newly renovated bedrooms and suites spread across 19 floors are wonderfully designed to create a calm and inviting atmosphere for guests whilst providing a sensational work setting for staff. Located in the lobby, the AKLA Restaurant is spacious and airy, which complements the seasonal and artisanal dishes combined with international techniques devised by Chef Eddy Melo. After an evening of enjoying delicious and authentic Portuguese dishes, The Uptown Bar is a striking modern space with mirrored walls and mood lighting, the ideal venue for a nightcap drink of innovative cocktails, a selection of Portuguese wines, and deliciously refreshing soft drinks.
