Montenegro Tourism Ministry is Connecting Destinations


Montenegro Tourism Director Aleksandra Gardašević-Slavuljica and Minister Goran Đurović show it’s time to connect tourism Montenegro style.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism of Montenegro announced its first Conference on “Connecting Tourist Destinations.

This event is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives.

It will take place in the colorful and historical small town of Budva in Montenegro on May 11 and 12, 2023.

With its medieval Old Town, sun-soaked beaches, and lively nightlife, Budva is the stand-out attraction along the Montenegrin coastline.

This conference will bring together representatives of numerous countries.

Experts in the field of tourism are invited to participate and present in discussions, panels, and networking sessions.

The goal is to get answers to current challenges in the travel and tourism industry.

The first day of the conference will be marked by a ministerial debate and a panel discussion on “Connecting tourist destinations through air traffic,” followed by a session on “Sustainable development of tourism in local communities.”

On the following day “Transformation – from destination marketing to destination management” as well as “Technology, innovation, and digitization – strengthening tourism development” is on the calendar.

A think tank on rural tourism, wellness, and sports as well as exploring the potential meeting and incentive tourism opportunities, known as MICE are on the agenda.

Hosting the event are Hon Minister of Economic Development and Tourism for Montenegro Goran Đurović, the Director General of Tourism for Montenegro  Aleksandra Gardašević-Slavuljica,  the Director of the National Tourism Organization  Ana Tripković-Marković.

The Minister of Tourism of the Maldives  Abdulla Mausoom, the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria  Ilin Dimitrov, and the Director of the UNWTO for Europe, Alessandra Priante will be participating in the discussions.

The 2nd UNWTO Conference on Destination Management in the Mediterranean in June 2015 took place in Budva, Montenegro, and focused on enhancing the quality of the visitor’s experience through strategic tourism partnerships.

Other regional tourism leaders are expected.

“By organizing the first international event on this topic, the Government of Montenegro is showing its contribution to developing sustainable and modern tourism trends and practices.

Montenegro hopes it can turn the conference into a traditional gathering that would position the country on the global map as an important tourism networking destination.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism, Government of Montenegro is a destination member of the World Tourism Network.

Montenegro’s Director of Tourism Aleksandra Gardašević-Slavuljica is a board member of the WTN and invited Chairman Juergen Steinmetz to Montenegro and participate in the discussion.
