New Chief Commercial Officer at Budapest Airport

Budapest Airport has announced the promotion of Balázs Bogáts to the position of Chief Commercial Officer, following a management restructuring by the recently appointed new Chief Executive Officer, Kam Jandu, the previous CCO. Effective immediately, Bogáts will lead the Commercial Business Unit which includes marketing combined with all business activities at the airport. In his new role he will be responsible for commercial sales and marketing activities with airline, retail, property, landside and mobility partners for which he will report directly to the CEO.

Balázs has an extensive 20-year aviation career including over a decade with Malév Airlines, first as Commercial Manager before switching to Malév Ground Handling. He then joined Budapest Airport in 2011 becoming the airport’s Concessions Manager with the task of developing concessions, aero charges, and incentive schemes. In 2014, he was promoted to Head of Airline Development, with duties to attract new airlines and strengthen relations with existing partners. He was promoted to Head of Commercial Planning in 2017 before being appointed as Airline Development Director in 2022.

During his time at the airport, Balázs has been an integral part of the aviation development team delivering record-breaking growth which, since his arrival, has witnessed a doubling of the airport’s traffic to 16 million passengers by 2019, leading to Budapest becoming overall winner of both the Routes Europe and World Routes Marketing Awards that year. He has since been deeply involved in the rebound efforts following the Pandemic with predictions that the airport will see 14 million passengers this year and pass pre-Pandemic levels in 2024.

Commenting on his new position Balázs said: “I am humbled and honoured to accept the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Budapest Airport. I look forward to working alongside our talented team to continue to drive our organisation’s growth and success.”

Kam Jandu, CEO, added: “We are very pleased to announce Balázs’ promotion to CCO. He brings an enormous amount of skill and commercial experience to the role and has proven himself time and time again of his commitment to BUD with his great fit to the culture and can-do attitude of our award-winning airport.”
