PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal made Nepal the Center of World Tourism


The Himalayan Travel Mart 2023 opened tonight at the impressively decorated ballroom at the Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu.

Right Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, personally rushed in from a security conference to open this event, indicating the rebegin of a bright tourism future for Nepal.

The Chief Guest inaugurates the 4th Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM 2023) by lighting the traditional Nepali Lamp.

The Honorable Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation for Nepal, Mr. Sudan Kirati, spoke at the opening, as did Mr. Bibhuti Chand Thakur, Chairman PATA Nepal Chapter.

This is the first Travel Mart since 2019, when COVID closed tourism worldwide.

Organized by the PATA Nepal Chapter, the World Tourism Network joined as a strategic partner and showed up in full force, with Chairman Juergen Steinmetz leading the WTN delegation.

He will speak in a panel about “Rejuvenating Travel Spirit and Tourism Businesses: Adapting to Climate Change, Embracing Sustainability, and Building a Resilient Tourism Industry.”

The Head of the WTN Aviation Group, Vijay Poonoosamy, will deliver a keynote address tomorrow. He is an Honorary Member of the Hermes Air Transport Organisation, a Non-Executive Member of the Board of the Veling Group, and a member of the Advisory Board of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne and the World Economic Forum’s Gender Parity Steering Committee. He was a former VP for Etihad Airways.

In tonight’s opening, Mr. Ubaraj Adhikari, Executive Chairman- of Nepal Airlines Corporation, addressed the audience with new developments, followed by closing remarks delivered by Mr. Suresh Adhikari, Secretary for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
