The police have arrested 12 gamblers from various parts of the city in the past few days.
Acting on a tip-off, a police party raided a gambling site at MR Gunj Ghat on Wednesday and arrested four gamblers. “Stake money of Rs 3,700 along with playing cards was recovered,” a police spokesman said.
In another instance, the Khanyar police station received information about gambling in the area.
“Acting swiftly, a police team raided the gambling site and arrested eight gamblers from the spot. The stake money of Rs 25,330 was recovered,” he said.
