Last year, Sony Pictures Films India and Ellipsis Entertainment announced a major partnership to adapt the most celebrated cult classic, Run Lola Run, in Hindi. Powerhouse actors Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin paired together for the first time in a new-age thriller-comedy titled Looop Lapeta. The film went on floors recently amid the pandemic.
Producer Atul Kasbekar, of Ellipsis Entertainment, recently revealed how the new normal has been on set that includes the fact that they have shot some portions on iPhones. “The mobile phone photography is going to get better and better – it’s inevitable. A lot of documentaries and commercials are being done. In my film, actually, there are some scenes shot on a mobile phone because it is the most accessible piece to use. We have some iPhones to do some visuals in Looop Lapeta which when it is ready, I will show it. We are even using 16mm somewhere,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
During the conversation, he also said that the film has COVID-19 insurance. “What to do if you get stuck. Somebody gets COVID-19 and you are stuck for X number of days and you’re in trouble, so we have taken great pains to make sure that we are financially secure in case something happens. For example, one of our star’s spot boy got diagnosed with COVID-19 but luckily he comes in full PPE kit so nothing happened. Now, it has reached a point where you must finish your principal photography in time. If you delay it, then it becomes very difficult to pull the project back. You have to take every bit of care.”
Furthermore, Kasbekar revealed that since masks are mandatory on set, they have kept a fine if caught without it. “We have Rs. 500 fine on set if you are caught without a mask on the set. We have to be careful,” he added.
Looop Lapeta is produced by Sony Pictures Films India, Ellipsis Entertainment, and Aayush Maheshwari.
