Representational ImageUdhampur : A woman was charred to death and all her household belongings including poultry stock vanished when a mysterious fire broke out in her house during wee hours on Friday at hamlet Bughdual of village Damnote in Udhampur District. Deceased has been identified as Benti Devi (74) w/o late Billu r/o Damnote. According to local residents, deceased Benti Devi was all alone in her house, when her house got engulfed in the devastating fire.Villagers from the nearby scattered houses rushed to the spot and tried their level best to save her life, but it was too late and she had completely burnt inside the house. Damnote police party led by I/C Police Post Damnote Sub Inspector Chuni Lal Katoch immediately reached the spot and started rescue operation .As the circumstances that led to the breaking out of the fire during night hours are mysterious, police has initiated inquest proceedings u/s 174 CrPC to ascertain the actual cause of incident.
