A major fault line broke in Turkey
A second 7.8. strong earthquake was recorded at 1.24 pm (13.24) local time in Kahramanmaras, Turkey. The population in this part of Turkey is about 826,000.
This was followed by two major after shocks 7.7 and 6.0 strong.
This earthquake has the potential for massive casualties, injuries, and devastation. eight hours early Turkey was struck with a similar strong quake 77 km away in from Gaziantep the center of the earlier quake. Already more than 1000 are declared dead in the earlier earthquake .
Today, a huge fault line broke between Kahramanmaraş and Malatya. This is the reason why such strong and frequent earthquakes occur. The last time such an earthquake occurred in the same region was in 1513.
