Direct Flights from Prague to 152 Destinations in Summer 2023

Two new long-haul routes to Seoul and Taiwan, a total of 152 destinations worldwide, nine new connections to popular holiday destinations, and 65 carriers. A list of things Václav Havel Airport Prague is to offer during the summer flight schedule, which comes into effect on Sunday, 26 March 2023. There will also be new connections, for example, to Gdansk, Skiathos, Bilbao, and Rimini.

Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, Jiří Pos, said that in terms of the number of destinations and carriers, the airport will reach 80 percent of the record 2019 offer. “Compared to last summer season, we will offer passengers more connections, despite the fact that there are still no destinations served in Ukraine and Russia. For comparison, in the record year of 2019, there were flights from Prague to 190 destinations. This year, we are at 152. At the same time, we managed to resume the long-haul route to Seoul, South Korea, with Korean Air, and starting this July, we will connect Prague with Taiwan by direct flights thanks to China Airlines. These are big milestones and a huge success.”

Compared to last summer, there will be additional increases in the number of frequencies on nearly 40 routes. This applies, for example, to the five most popular cities, namely London, Amsterdam, Paris, Antalya, and Frankfurt. A higher number of connections will also be offered on direct routes to destinations such as Riga, Chisinau, Dublin, Málaga, Athens, Barcelona, Warsaw, and Rhodes.

New Long-Haul Routes and Destinations

A new direct connection with Taiwan is planned from 18 July. China Airlines will operate the route twice a week, departing from Prague every Wednesday and Sunday using Airbus A350-900 aircraft for 306 passengers. The launch of the resumed route to Seoul, South Korea, operated by Korean Air, is aligned with the summer flight schedule coming into effect. The inaugural flight will take place on 27 March. Flights to this new destination from Prague Airport will be available three times a week aboard Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for 291 passengers. In May, a direct connection to the United States, operated by Delta Air Lines from JFK Airport in New York, will reappear on the Prague Airport network and remain a part of it until the end of September.

Additionally, Icelandair will have its debut in Prague, connecting it with Reykjavík four times a week from 1 June, thus offering fast connections via Iceland to more than 14 destinations in the USA. To name a few, Bilbao in Spain, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Skiathos in Greece, and Seville in Spain are among the new destinations that will be added to the list of regular flights under the summer schedule. Passengers will also be able to visit Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, Gdansk, Poland, and the city of Muscat in Oman.

Director of Prague Airport Aviation Business, Jaroslav Filip, believes in a strong summer season. “Traffic forecasts are positive. Prague Airport could handle over 13 million passengers this year. So far, we have recorded a higher demand for outbound tourism to typically holiday destinations. At the same time, together with the CzechTourism and Prague City Tourism organizations, we continue to provide additional intensive support for inbound tourism, which should be dominant during the summer months.”

New Carriers

Compared to last summer, several newcomers will be introduced, such as the Moldovan Air Moldova and FlyOne, the already mentioned China Airlines and Korean Air, the Cypriot Cyprus Airways, the Omani Salam Air, and the already mentioned Icelandic Icelandair. During the upcoming summer operational season, the Smartwings Group airlines (39), Ryanair (33), Eurowings (19), easyJet (12), and Wizz Air (11) will offer regular connections to the greatest number of destinations.

Passengers can find a detailed overview of available connections, including a list of airlines offering flights to a particular destination, which is updated on a regular basis, on the Prague Airport’s website. Interested parties can use a convenient link from the overview to the airline’s website, providing the most up-to-date information about the flight schedule and the option of booking tickets directly on the website. Selected destinations also feature interesting local details for travelers. In May, a competition to win several flight tickets will be run on the site.

Throughout the summer season, it remains recommended to passengers with scheduled flights to always review all currently valid conditions for travel as per their final destination before the trip.
