Cape Air Resumed Nevis Flights

Cape Air announced in December 2022 that they will offer flights to Nevis through major U.S. airlines, through connecting flights at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. On 15 February 2023, Cape Air recommenced flights to Vance W. Amory International Airport (VAIA) in Nevis. Cape Air and Nevis celebrated the inauguration of Cape Air flight from St. Thomas to Nevis.

Cape Air had signed codeshare and interline agreements with American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue and United Airlines, which created possibilities for travelers from the U.S. to travel to Nevis using any of these airlines.

The Deputy Premier of Nevis, Hon. Eric Evelyn, and CEO of Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) welcomed passengers aboard the first Cape Air flight. “So, on behalf of the Premier and the Nevis Island Administration, we want to welcome Cape Air back to the beautiful island of Nevis. We trust that your tenure will be long, and we hope that in future you can add more destinations to this route.” Hon. Evelyn remarked on behalf of the Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Hon. Mark Brantley.

Mr. Liburd expressed his excitement that “This flight service agreement offers travelers from North America the opportunity to connect in a more seamless way, we are looking forward to welcoming them and sharing the beauty of our destination. There are scores of Nevisians living in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and this flight will give them the opportunity to travel home directly, so we hope to see an increase in new visitors, as well as those visiting their home country.”

Mr. Liburd thanked stakeholders including the Nevis government, Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (NASPA), Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Finance, for ensuring the successful return of Cape Air flights.

Regional Marketing Director of Cape Air, Ms. Katya Ruiz, represented the company by saying “On behalf of Linda Markham, our CEO, I thank you for embracing us, embracing our service and together we will work to make Nevis a great destination. We are so excited to be back. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time since we had to pause our service to once again be partnering with this amazing destination, and we are sure this will be a great boost to Nevis Tourism.”
