Cancun remains the top destination for foreign tourists

According to information from the Ministry of the Interior, Quintana Roo captured 37.8% of the 3.2 million U.S. travelers who entered Mexico by air during the first quarter of 2023. It is equivalent to 1.2 million U.S. tourists, Mexico’s most important international source market by volume.

Regarding Canada, the country’s second most important international market, Cancun attracted 498,068 travelers, 51.2% of the 971,482 who arrived nationwide.

As for Colombia, the third most important international market, Cancun captured 44.7%, 79,997 citizens of that South American country, compared to the 178,819 reported nationally during the first quarter of the year.

Therefore, Cancun alone has the highest share of the three main source markets.
