About EuroPride Valletta 2023
In 2020, Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC) won the bid to bring EuroPride to Malta in 2023.
ARC is working together with the Maltese LGBTIQ+ community to make EuroPride Valletta 2023 a place to celebrate! The ten-day event between 7 and 17 September 2023 will feature a wide variety of entertainment activities and events, including a human rights conference, pride marches in Valletta and Victoria (Gozo), concerts and themed parties under the slogan #EqualityFromTheHeart.
The Maltese LGBTIQ+ community is part of the European LGBTIQ+ movement, but we are also aware that neighboring communities in North Africa and the Middle East are still struggling with LGBTIQ+ human rights issues. As a top performer in the ILGA Rainbow Index, we are committed to working towards full equality in our country and surrounding communities.
About Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC)
ARC was founded in 2015 out of a need to create a sense of community. Malta has come a long way in equality and civil liberties reforms, but we believe that laws and human rights are only part of the equation. Our main areas of work include: Pride, Communication, Community Engagement and Networking.
ARC’s mission is to reach out to all colors of our rainbow and beyond, while encouraging further growth in our communities and creating opportunities to give back to society. Our target audience are LGBTIQ+ people and allies in the Maltese Islands. The aim of the organization is to make the Maltese Islands a highly attractive and vibrant destination for LGBTIQ+ people to visit, work and live.
About Malta
The sunny islands of Malta, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, are home to a most remarkable concentration of intact built heritage, including the highest density of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in any nation-state anywhere. Valletta, built by the proud Knights of St. John, is one of the UNESCO sites and the European Capital of Culture for 2018. Malta’s patrimony in stone ranges from the oldest free-standing stone architecture in the world, to one of the British Empire’s most formidable defensive systems, and includes a rich mix of domestic, religious and military architecture from the ancient, medieval and early modern periods. With superbly sunny weather, attractive beaches, a thriving nightlife and 8,000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do.
