Naturist travelers should be aware that many beaches in Portugal do not allow nudism. To avoid problems, visiting designated official beaches or seeking out secluded areas where naturism may be allowed unofficially is recommended.
Tourism Review recommends the following naturist beaches in Portugal:
1: Praia do Homem Nu, Tavira, Algarve
A true nudist classic is the “Beach of the Naked Man” – as the name translates. It is considered one of the first nudist beaches in the country. Naturists will find this paradise on the small island of Tavira, a sandbar in the Algarve.
2: Praia da Cordoama, Vila do Bispo, Algarve
The beach at Vila do Bispo in Portugal’s southwest is an insider’s tip. Naturists follow the “Praias” signs, turn left to Praia do Castelayo, then right onto a dirt road, from where it is only a few steps to this pearl of a beach where nudism is tolerated.
3: Praia da Bela Vista, Almada, Greater Lisbon
This beautiful, expansive beach popular with the LGBTQI+ community is close to Lisbon, Portugal’s picturesque capital. Located between the Costa de Caparica and Fonte da Telha, the naturist beach can be reached by car or beach train.
