Tassaduq as minister: Oath ceremony likely on Thursday

Jammu : Peoples Democratic Party leader Tassaduq Mufti is likely to be inducted as cabinet minister on December 28 in Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti-led Jammu and Kashmir Government. Cinematographer-turned-politician, Tassaduq, who had resigned as head of Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell, will get cabinet rank, sources said, adding that he will be administered oath on December 28. He was introduced to the party and politics by his sister Mehbooba after Sayeed passed away in January 2016.
Sources from PDP further said, “Tassaduq Mufti may get Tourism portfolio, which is presently with Mehbooba Mufti.”
The source disclosed that while is certain that Tassaduq would be administered the oath, there are “very high chances” that another PDP legislator would make it to the cabinet. The present strength of the council of ministers is 23, two short of the maximum strength of the council of ministers in J&K (25), permissible under the J&K Constitution. According to the source, chairman Legislative Council Hajji Inayat Ali would separately administer the oath of office and secrecy as MLC to Tassaduq before the beginning of the budget session on January 2.(Agencies)
