Budget Session begins amidst protest

Jammu : Budget Session begins on Tuesday amidst protest by opposition parties. As soon as Governor NN Vohra tried to start his speech, opposition legislators of NC, Congress and independent legislator Engineer Rashid raised anti-government slogans. As Vohra started his speech, the sloganeering became intense.
While independent Kashmir legislator and AIP chairman Er Rasheed staged a protest outside the legislative assembly to demand “right to self-determination for Kashmiris”. Holding a banner with pictures of slain civilians Mysara Bano and Asif and pellet victims, Rasheed said that “right to self-determination was the only way out” for resolution of Kashmir issue. Bano and Asif were killed in alleged army firing in Kupwara district in separate incidents last month. Rasheed had termed the killings as “cold-blooded murder”. Rasheed staged the protest just ahead of the assembly session in Jammu today.
