The Galveston Park Board announced that Tony Lyle will join Visit Galveston as its Chief Tourism Officer beginning May 1. He will join the team after serving more than ten years as Chief Marketing Officer at the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
Lyle will guide tourism efforts for Visit Galveston. He and his team will be expected to devise and implement strategies that align with the organization’s mission to further the success of Galveston as a premier tourist destination while enhancing the quality of life for residents.
“Tony brings a breadth of knowledge and talent in many areas including sustainability and data-driven marketing initiatives,” Park Board Chief Executive Officer Kelly de Schaun said. “He has also demonstrated he can work well with a diverse group of stakeholders on the city, state and regional levels which we think will be beneficial to our organization.”
“I look forward to living in a warmer climate,” Lyle quipped. “Seriously, though, I immediately felt a connection to the island when I visited. The people I met were genuine and welcoming. I recognize Galveston’s special place in Texas history and I’m ready to accept the challenge of building both a stronger community and a more inviting tourism product.”
He holds a Bachelor of Education with Honors in Outdoor and Science Education from Liverpool John Moores University in England.
