New Directors of Operations and F&B at Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi welcomes two seasoned hoteliers to the executive team, as Ramy Khamis and Hasan D Al Masri come onboard, as Director of Operations and Director of Food & Beverage respectively.

With a degree in hotel management and over 19 years in hospitality, from Egypt, Saudi Arabi, and the United Arab Emirates, Ramy brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge, and business strategies, to The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi.

Having started his career as a senior front office agent at the Semiramis Intercontinental in his hometown of Cairo, Ramy eventually joined The Ritz-Carlton Riyadh as Night Manager, moving his way steadily up the ranks until he became Assistant Director of Rooms.

After three years he was elevated to Director of Rooms, moving to The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert in 2017 to oversee the opening of the property after it was rebranded to The Ritz-Carlton. During his time as Director of Rooms, he worked closely with the General Manager to develop business strategies, ensure guest satisfaction, and champion the brand’s service vision for the expansive 500-hectare property.

Ramy also served as the support chair and council member for the Marriott Business Council in the UAE, and counts receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the White House, after the visit of the then-president to Riyadh, as one of his memorable moments.

Hailing from Jordan, Hasan D Al Masri is no stranger to Langkawi, as he previously served as Assistant Director of F&B at the St. Regis Langkawi from 2018 to 2020, and also worked with the pre-opening team for Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah. His knowledge of Langkawi and the local market is an asset to The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, with Hasan aiming to increase awareness of the hotel’s culinary offerings.

Armed with a diploma in hotel management, Hasan’s career began as restaurant captain at the Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa, before stints at the Kempinski Ishtar and the Holiday Inn Resort, Dead Sea. Returning to Marriott International in 2009 at the Salalah Marriott Resort in Oman, his first role in The Ritz-Carlton brand was as a member of the pre-opening team for The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, where he stayed on as restaurant manager for their Lebanese restaurant, Mijana.

From there he progressed to Assistant Director of Banquets for a year, before being elevated to Director of Restaurants, at The Ritz-Carlton Jeddah and King Abdullah Convention Center, where he stayed until 2018, when he moved to Langkawi.

Hasan’s last role as Assistant Director of F&B (and acting Director) at the Assila, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Jedah, saw him oversee the hotel’s four F&B venues, banquet operations, and the conference catering sales. During this time, he planned and executed the catering for the F1 Royal Event and introduced a pop-up concept in the lobby lounge.

The Ladies & Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, are excited to have both Ramy and Hasan onboard, to continue reinventing legends with them.
