Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor kickstarted his 2023 with a hit series Farzi that released on OTT platform, and which received rave reviews. The actor in his interview opened up on comparison between movies and OTT. He also spoke about not repeating his roles.
Shahid Kapoor says he will not be doing “only complex roles”; asserts, “If I keep repeating myself in that zone, it will become cliché”
Shahid, who has pursued every acting opportunity available, avoided comparisons between OTT and theatres. When asked if OTT has been more liberated for him as an artist than films, he responded to Bombay Times, “I don’t think there is more merit in either of the two platforms. Movies have their own space, and the same goes for OTT. I think it is a privilege that I can have a presence on both platforms; both have their own advantages and unique appeal. Having said that, I feel that while conceiving a product, one should be sure of where one wants to showcase it. I think choosing to showcase something on a platform different from what you had envisioned can sometimes be counterproductive.”
Shahid is now known as an actor who enjoys playing characters with depth and flaws. The actor addressed a change in his career, but he disputed the idea that his propensity for complex characters was a sudden realisation. He said, “The desire to do something complex and challenging was always there, but I was not offered those roles earlier. You can only choose from the choices that are in front of you.”
Additionally, he asserted against taking on too many intricate roles. He said, “I won’t be doing only complex roles. I have to do different things. If I keep repeating myself in that zone, it will become cliché. The idea is not to become a cliché, and that is what I intend to do – keep changing every time.”
Apart from this, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Raj & DK helmed Farzi that is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. He will be soon seen alongside Kriti Sanon in an untitled Maddock film. The poster of the film is out and is expected to release in October. Shahid also has Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy, which is set to release on OTT platform on June 9.
