Croatian Tourism estimates a record year

According to Croatian Tourist Board head Kristjan Staničić, Croatia has already surpassed its record results from last season. From January to May this year, 3.5 million visitors traveled to Croatia, resulting in 10.7 million overnight stays. This is a 3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2019 and a significant increase of 27 percent compared to last year. These numbers are expected to continue to rise throughout Europe, particularly in the Mediterranean region.

According to Hina, the head of HTZ expressed optimism ahead of the main season starting in June. He anticipates excellent results, especially from important markets like Austria. With Schengen accession and Euro introduction in Croatia, removing border controls is expected to boost tourism this year. Croatian tourism came close to reaching the record level of 2019 last year.
